1. Suspension & ride quality

3. Fuel & evap system

Small fuel-system parts like the vent and breather valve hoses get brittle with age and heat. When they crack, you’ll often see an evap-related check-engine code (like a P0442 small leak) or a faint fuel smell. 4. Cooling system leaks

The X5’s cooling system uses plastic components that get brittle over the years — expansion tanks, hoses, and the water pump are the usual suspects.
