BMW F06 6 Series Gran Coupe: Known Faults and the OEM Replacements

The F06 6-Series Gran Coupe (2012–2019) is a big, four-door grand tourer built on 5-Series underpinnings, and a used one carries the wear points of a heavily-optioned V8 BMW. 1. Rear suspension arms and bushings

The Gran Coupe is a heavy car, and the rear multi-link arms carry that weight over every bump. Worn bushings show up as a clunk from the back, uneven rear tyre wear, or an alignment that will not stay put. Arms are handed — left and right are different part numbers — so match the side before you order.

2. N63 V8 — oil and cooling leaks

On the 650i and 550i, the 4.4L N63 sits hot between the turbos, and heat is what ages the parts around it: valve cover gaskets, the oil filter housing gasket, coolant hoses, and the auxiliary circulation pumps that keep coolant moving after shutdown. A burning-oil smell after a drive, or coolant that needs topping up, is the early warning. Tell us your VIN and we will pull the version that matches your build.

3. Adaptive LED headlights

Adaptive headlights are one of the most expensive parts of an F06 to replace new, and they are a common casualty of even a light front-end knock or a failed control module. A genuine used OEM lamp is the difference between a sensible repair and a dealer quote that writes the car off.

4. Frameless doors, mirrors and comfort electronics

Frameless door glass, soft-close doors, camera mirrors and the comfort modules behind them all add convenience — and all add failure points as the car ages. Most are a clean swap with a known-good OEM unit rather than an expensive diagnosis, provided the part matches the options your car left the factory with.

5. Options vary more than the model name suggests
